THQ Nordic acquires TimeSplitters and Second Sight IP

Could we finally see the return of the beloved shooter in the form of an HD Collection or an actual new entry in the series?

THQ Nordic acquires TimeSplitters

THQ Nordic has announced earlier today that they have acquired the rights to the TimeSplitters IP from Crytek. TimeSplitters is a trilogy developed by Crytek themselves (known as Free Radical Design at the time), a company founded by ex-Rare employees known for GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark, TimeSplitters gained a loving fan-base and critical acclaim but that didn't stop the series from going dormant since 2005.

TimeSplitters 4 was announced in 2007 but by 2012, development had been cancelled. With THQ Nordic now owning the IP, a fourth entry might actually be a possibility but I'd be happy with a HD Remake of the original three games with updated visuals and tweaked controls to match today's standards.

As for TimeSplitters Rewind, a fan-project remake of the trilogy, no news have been given yet but if THQ Nordic has any intention of releasing a remake themselves, Rewind might never see the light of day.

second sight THQ

TimeSplitters wasn't the only IP that THQ Nordic acquired Second Sight, a science-fiction action game where you control a man with amnesia and psychic powers trying to make his way out of a medical facility. Released in 2004, the game received favourable reviews but not much came from it.
