The date is confirmed by Makoto Yukimura, the series creator, himself on his twitter page. (Which was mysteriously deleted). Vinland Saga first launched in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2005 but quickly moved to Afternoon magazine in the same year. The manga is currently on its 21st volume in Japan while English speaking countries got the 10th omnibus volume courtesy of Kodansha Comics.
The anime adaptation will be animated by Wit Studio (Attack on Titan) and will air on Amazon Prime in Japan and overseas. The manga is the holder of various awards such as a Grand Prize in the Ministry of Cultural Affairs' 13th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards in 2009 and with a popular studio behind it, the expectations for the TV anime are high!
